No Cosmetics For Acne Prone Skin?

Acne is a bad skin condition that is caused by the hormonal changes taking place inside our body. To treat or reduce the problem of acne, it is advisable to use the right kind of cosmetics. Cosmetic products have the tendency to clog our skin pores that further aggravates this disfiguring skin condition.

Beauty products like foundation creams, or lotions, are supposed to contain comedogenics, which is considered as an expert in blocking our skin pores. As we all know that acne is caused by trapped dead skin cells and bacteria in our skin follicles, using products with high comedogenic content can worsen the situation.

Should People With Acne Not Use Any Make-UP?

Not using any make-up is impractical for any of us. Moreover, make-up is not a cause of acne. Beauty products do not cause pimples, they can only exacerbate the situation. Any acne like bumps caused due to make-up are only superficial in nature, and not actually pimples. These are known as cosmetic acne and generally fade away within a month.

But people already suffering with bad skin conditions have to be extremely careful while using beauty products. They cannot buy just any product from the market. A proper study of its composition is really important to avoiding frightful skin.

Tips To Use The Right Cosmetic:

  • Avoid Oil-Based Formulae: Oily skinned people must avoid using oil or cream based products as they will increase the problem of pimples. The oil content in the products is generally due to an ingredient called "comendogenic". While not all comendogenic based cosmetic material causes blocked pores, most of it does. So for people who have oily skin, gel-based, or water- based cosmetics are the best. Go for products that are labeled oil-free.
  • Avoid Cosmetics with Glitter: Eye shadow or blusher that uses mica for providing a shimmer effect is not advisable, as they block the skin pores.
  • Avoid Excessive Oiling of Hair: Keeping your hair oiled for a long time continuously increases the chances of pimples. The oil in the scalp helps in aggravating the blockage of follicles, and thus comes forth an outbreak of acne.
  • Use Foundation For Concealing: Not using any make-up just to avoid pimples is no good. In fact, light make-up can be used to hide the blemishes, scars, or bumps that make the surface of your face look uneven. Use semi-matt foundations that are less oily. An alternative is to apply alcohol-based liquids beneath the foundation for getting an even finish.

Beauty products are nothing be afraid of even if you have sensitive skin. The market is full of products for every skin type. The challenge here is to choose the one that will complement your skin type. Acne can definitely be fought against and camouflaged with the use of the right cosmetics.
