Rarely Talked About But Not Rare.

We all know about acne on the face, neck, and the back, but not many know about genital acne. This, however, does not make it a rare occurrence. Only it so happens that it is not talked about much. The symptoms and accompanying discomforts, like normal acne, are there in this case too, may be even more, because of the awkward location.

Acne problem
affecting the skin, it can occur anywhere. So it does. Only unlike sebaceous glands, the glands responsible for such type of acne cases are apocrine glands. These function much the same way as sebaceous glands in creating pimples. These glands are located in the area of underarms, groin and nipples. The skin in these areas is very soft.

Just like any other acne, this acne too needs normal skin care. Excessive perspiration and harsh clothing rubbing against the delicate skin are the normal causes. Sportspersons are more likely to be affected by acne in these areas. Some times, harsh detergents used in washing clothes and even the bathing soap used can cause such acne. Despite the itching, rubbing and scratching should be avoided. Changing to mild detergents and bathing soap and also comfortable clothes is advisable. Washing with a light disinfectant and applying topical cream on the doctor’s prescription helps.

In case you find your acne is not responding to the usual acne cure, and the problem is getting severe, do not hesitate to consult the doctor. He would choose to take recourse to surgical procedure as a healing up process. Another thing the doctor would like to rule out is that the acne like symptoms may represent some other serious illness. Then the treatment would change accordingly.
